Lonely Planet selects Valencia as One of its Top 10 Urban Beaches in the World

The prestigious Travel Bible, Lonely Planet has selected Valencia as one of its picks for 2011 in the Urban Beach category further adding to the city's fame among the travel in crowd. Together with Barcelona, Valencia is the only other Spanish City to make the grade. The city's unique geography as well as micro-climate allow it to offer visitors the dual attraction of a vibrant cosmopolitan city as well as the cachet of being right on the edge of the Mediterranean.

 A multitude of seasports can be indulged in from sailing to kitesurfing, diving to fishing. Spain's first Apple Store will also open in the city in the coming 12 months further adding to the city's winning streak, it already being the host of the annual European Grand Prix.

 At present in the region of 10% of all visitors to Valencia enter via the city's port as passengers on Cruise Ships, visiting the city for a mixture of sight seeing, shopping and sunbathing.
