World’s Longest Urban Cable Car System Proposed for Valencia’s America’s Cup Marina & F1 Circuit

A private company called “Teleferic Valencia ” ( http://www.telefericvalencia.com/inicio.php ) intends to construct the World's Longest Urban Cable Car System in the Mediterranean Seaside City of Valencia. The project has an estimated budget of € 100 million which will provide 1,000 jobs during the construction phase and 100 further jobs in the system maintenance alone upon completion not counting the numerous other service related jobs attaching to the project in the 7 cable car stations dotted around the cable car circuit.
The system will start from the city's America 's Cup Marina and F1 Circuit and continue over the marina and pass along the F1 circuit and the new F1 Neighbourhood and on to the City of the Sciences before passing by the Serrano Towers and ending in the city's Bioparc. There will be 4 principal stations and 3 intermediary ones with the stations occupying on average 200 sqms with restaurants, shops, kindergartens and bars cum coffee shops catering to the projected 3,000 passengers that will use the system hourly. The journey time is estimated at an hour with ticket prices at €14 return for adults and €10 for a single ticket. Passengers will be able to get off along the route and go sightseeing before returning to continue their trip.
Teleferic Valencia believe that they will have a captive audience among the cruise ship passengers all 280,000 of them that visit the city annually. So confident are they of this that an intermediary station will be built in the Cruise Ship docking area in the Port of Valencia .
The financing of the project will come from the private sector with shares priced at €100 each. That said, financial support from government be it local, provincial or national is not discounted. Marketing revenues will play a prominent part in the project with multiple marketing hoardings at all the stations as well as on the cable cars in addition to the cars being equipped with T.F.T. Screens that will give tourist as well as marketing info to the passengers.
Teleferic Valencia intend to minimise the environmental impact as much as possible by blending the system into the surrounding landscape and varying the colour of the pylons according to the local colour scheme of any given area so they will be coloured blue in the marina, white around the City of the Sciences and green along the city's historic riverbed. In total between 90 and 300 cable cars are projected with capacities between 15 and 30 passengers and operating at heights of between 15 and 30 metres.
The company intend to station cable cars right over the F1 Circuit during the 3 days that the race will be in the city thus giving a truly bird's-eye view of the circuit as well as the America 's Cup Marina.
